The efforts of classroom helpers are highly valued at THPS, as opportunities for student learning are increased by the participation of understanding adults. A major focus of volunteers in the classroom is reading, as having an understanding adult to read to can boost confidence and encourage reading success.

If you are interested in becoming a THPS classroom helper please advise the classroom teacher of your availability and provide a copy of a current Working With Children Check (WWC) to the office. The WWC Check can be applied for through the Working With Children Check Victoria website and is free of charge: https://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/

The Classroom Helpers Course is run in Term One each year.  Participation in the program enables helpers to understand the process of learning and therefore, be able to most effectively support students in classroom activities.

Classroom helpers will complete an orientation prior to working in the classroom, including a Child Safety induction and an OHS induction.
